Course Description
This course is a basic certification program in the techniques and applications of Manual Lymph Drainage (MLD). This course exposes students to the methodology known as Vodder Technique, developed by Emil Vodder, Ph.D. This course is targeted at manual therapists such as medically-oriented Massage Therapists, Physical Therapists and PTAs, Occupational Therapists and OTAs, and Registered Nurses and LPNs/LVNs, all of whom maintain clinical practices that encounter patients in need of edema management or general health level support. Course Objectives
Each student will be trained in the four components of Complete Decongestive Therapy. Upon completion of the class, the therapist will be able to differentiate between a variety of peripheral edemas as well as understand the applications, medical indications, and contraindications of MLD and CDT. Additionally, the therapist will be able to establish a CDT treatment plan for individuals with primary or secondary lymphedema and perform the indicated treatment.
