I developed this practise of going for morning and evening walk since the commencement of lockdown. It was fun, and I was feeling a lot healthier after I began doing this. But later on, I started to feel pain in my knee joints and heels. I thought it's because of my stretching issues, but after I found that my shoes had some shock absorption issues. I changed the shoes, but still, the pain persists. I was suggested to consult this sports physiotherapy treatment (for more details: https://www.physioactive.ca/our-services/sports-injury-treatment/ ). I'm confused. Why can't I go with regular physiotherapy and not this? Can anyone explain the difference? Am I thinking, right?

I'm worried.
Posted: Sep 24 2020 at 6:47am

Hello, I'm a 23 year old female with both tibias fractured on June 14, 2020.
I've been going to PT for 10 weeks now and I only have 2 left. I started PT 6 weeks after I was injured. I am walking again but I haven't been able to fully straighten my legs while walking yet. I also can't bend my legs all the way.
My PT has told me that what's holding me back is just the muscles. Relaxing and strengthening the right ones. When I see him I can hear the stress in his voice when discussing my progress. I've been doing all of my exercises and stretches.
My questions are, (1) am I not as progressed as I should be? (2) What do I do if I'm not walking normally once I've finished PT? (3) Is there something more I need to be doing? (4) Will I actually walk how I did before my injury?
Thank you for your thoughts, input, and time.

Have you been taking any anti-inflammatory medications? Any blood work performed?

    Author: thatcsguy1
Subject: I am a man of many injuries, anyone else?
Posted: May 09 2020 at 12:28pm

So in the winter of 2018 I hurt my upper thoracic region in my back from dead lifting. This has been an injury I am still trying to recover from to this day. It also caused my lower back to feel weak.
In the fall of 2019, I was extremely active. I was hiking mountains, playing hours of soccer straight, and going for long runs. The catch? I was doing it all in crappy shoes. Towards November of 2019, I began to feel some pain in my legs. A sore IT band, a little pain in the middle of my shins, and tenderness/dull pain on the sides of my knees and patella/top of tibia.
I have been going to PT since January of this year, where I do leg press, leg extension, hip extension, hip abduction, wall squats, and ball balancing. Also, every day I do a standing quad stretch, calf stretch, standing hip stretch, and hamstring stretch. I then ice afterwards.
I haven't run/played soccer/anything since November of last year. I have done all of these rehabilitate things and while it's gotten better, I still have pain all over.
Does anyone have any ideas of what I should do? My PT guy says its tendonitis and that I just need to keep stretching and strengthening, but I am nervous with how long it has been. I am thinking of going to get a second opinion. Has anyone ever experienced anything like this before? What did you do?

You would want to work on strengthening of your quads and hips. Depending on what else is going on additional strengthening, stretching, patella mobs, patellofemoral taping, etc may be needed. Let me know what your PT has to say.
Author: CyclicNectar
Subject: Can you help me identify my knee issue?
Posted: Mar 28 2020 at 10:54pm

Hey all, I wanted to ask about a some knee pain I've been experiencing.

It seems to mainly manifest when I engage in "leg extension" type moves. Not that I do leg extensions on the machine or anything...

It's weird... I could do weighted squats just fine, but sometimes, I'll be sitting on an office chair, and propel myself back, and THEN I'll feel it in my left knee. It's like, a semi-sharp thing under the kneecap.

Possibly related: My knees click a lot. If I'm standing around, and I lightly lock and unlock my knees, more often than not, it'll "click" audibly, kinda like the sound of cracking knuckles.

Sometimes I'll feel the aforementioned knee pain more than other times, and usually, one "click" will relieve it somewhat.

When I'm climbing stairs, there's no audible clicking, but I can "feel" it clicking a bit with every step up I take, and hear like a high-pitched version ripple through my body... if that makes sense...

Is this something familiar to anyone?

p.s. I've scheduled an appointment with a PT, but wanted to get the hivemind's perspective too.

In general, I have some amount of hypermobility (most noticeable in my shoulders, which dislocate super-easily, if in a precarious position like attempting an overhead squat), and the occasional lower back pain... I wonder if that's all linked, or if this is separate... It'd be good to know if there's an overall thing that's exacerbating this, or if the knee issue is isolated.
I can get all the way to the ground on my right splits (right leg forward), but when trying for left splits, I feel a sharp pain in my left thigh. The pain is worst on the inner thigh, about 2 inches above my knee, but it pulls all along the muscle running from my knee up my thigh to some extent. My left knee is still a solid foot or more off the ground when I try the left split and it's all because I can't get past this pain. No pain in hip flexors at all. It does not hurt at all otherwise, this is just because I'm trying for splits. Is this something I'll be able to stretch past with time, or is it going to require more serious intervention?
