I heard this popping sound and have some bruising at the back of my thigh and by my buttock. I have pain walking on it and when I have to bend my knee. Should I see a PT and what should I do meanwhile to help it?
A.J.

grpt

15 Posts

Posted - 05/24/2006 : 12:21:03 Show Profile Reply with Quote
A.J., It sounds like you definitely pulled your hamstring. I would definitely seek out medical attention. Meanwhile, I would refrain from activities which would flare it up. ie. running, biking. You should also maintain your ROM by bending your knee back & forth. Don't move it to the point where it hurts alot. Also quad sets and ham sets would be appropriate as well applying min/mod force. You can look at the exercise videos on the site to see what quad sets and ham sets are.
