Author: Ask a PT
Subject: 1516
Posted: Sep 10 2014 at 2:54pm

Our user asked: "Treatments - Osgood-Schlatter Disease / Syndrome specific Jenny Strickland protocol or any other true advancement in treatments. ( micro nutrients included?). Thanks much"

Ask a PT Response: "I really don't have any experience with the Strickland protocol. It appears to only work for children and you have to purchase the manual online. I did a journal review/search on her protocol but didn't come up with anything. They did conduct their own pilot study with a very small sample which achieved positive results for myofascial release massage (MRM) and stretching of the quadriceps group on the speed of recovery of patients with OSD. Further research is warranted. I'd like to see what they do different vs the normal treatment options provided by a PT for this condition and see if there really is anything difference. Sorry I could not have been of more help."
