Our user asked: "I was told that I have a prominent SCM by my Ortho. What could cause this and what can be done for it? I do home traction for bulging cervical disc's though not currently."

Ask a PT Response: "An overdeveloped SCM could occur for no reason. However, increase use of one side versus the other could result in this as well. Stretching along with manual therapy and postural training would be the best treatment options for this. Perhaps you could inquire with your Ortho to see if you can participate in PT to see if that will help."
