Our user aksed: "had surgery on my left knee for a torn meniscus on January 5th 2011, and my right knee keeps popping? Just wondering, is that because of all the weight I was putting on it when I had the tear in the left? I play basketball, Club basketball in college! This is my second surgery, I tore my RIGHT meniscus in 2006, recovered, and was feeling perfect for 5 years!"

Ask a PT Response: "Are you putting all/most of your weight on your right leg before/after the surgery? If so, the added stress on your uninvolved lower extremity could contribute to the popping sensation you are experiencing. This popping sensation could be contributed to tightness, muscle imbalance, etc. I suggest you have your therapist or trainer take a look at the R knee as well while you are rehabilitating your left knee."
