Our user asked: "Hi! I have a question for a novel I am writing. One of the characters is blind, and he breaks his leg so badly that there is no walking cast or boot or anything for at least 2 weeks. Do you think a blind person would be better off using a wheelchair or using crutches in this circumstance? I can good and bad to both options."

Ask a PT Response: "Given that the subject is visually impaired and is non weight bearing, I would most likely recommend that the patient utilize a wheelchair for mobility as this is a much safer option. When the patient is to undergo gait training, a walker would be a much safer and better option for ambulation compared to crutches initially. I hope this helps."
