Our user asked: "I have loss of cartilage in my right knee. Would rollerblading worsen the problem such as cause swelling and/or accelerate the rate of cartilage loss? Thank you for your help."

Ask a PT Response: "Rollerblading can result in additional stresses to areas of the knee given the demands of rollerblading such as pushing off, turning and stopping. Just wondering how much cartilage you have left, where the loss of cartilage is and do you experience pain with rollerblading? Best thing to do would be probably to consult with your orthopedic doctor and get his opinion as he will be familiar with the condition at your knee."
