Hello all - I have a pt. that underwent a MUA in Nov. 2009 - at the same time the surgeon performed a RCR for a large tear.  I saw this pt. every day for one week, however, I did not range her through full range secondary to the RCR - the Dr. sent no protocol.  She is now presenting with frozen shoulder - any ideas? Thanks

You were right not to perform full range of motion after the RCR and manipulation as you don't want to compromise the RCR. I would continue to treat and progress the patient with the main understanding that she had the RCR. Aggressive therapy too soon to achieve additional ROM could actually do more harm than good. Worse case scenario she would have to undergo another MUA once the RC has healed.
