Our user asked: "I was wondering what kind of exercises one could do to strengthen a hamstring that was once pulled and is very tight."

Ask a PT response: "For my patients that have a history of hamsting strain and tightness, I would have them work on hamstring strengthening in various ways ie. hamstring curls on machine (ie. Magnum, Freemotion, etc.), thera band, hamstring curls on physioball (gym ball), etc. Strengthening at the core and other areas of the body which I found are weak are worked on as well. I would also have them work on stretching the hamstring. This can be done in sitting, lying down, or standing. When performing the stretch, I would have them stretch at various angles to ensure the 3 parts of the hamstring are stretched. I hope this helps."
