Our user asked: "I've been having my rt. knee cap dislocate for about 2 yrs now. i've had surgery once and now fixing to at it again. Ive been wearing my knee brace for about 2 months now and it's starting to rub blisters.... i done PT last yr. before i had my 1st surgery. my PTA somehow taped the knee so the kneecap would stay in place, i can't remember how he did it, can anyone help? thanks"

Ask a PT Response: "It may be a good idea to consult with your PT again in regards to your knee and taping your patella given the history of your knee. He or she will determine the best technique for taping your knee if appropriate. If you perform taping and it is done improperly, you may cause injury to yourself. I've included some links to help you understand taping better.

As far as the blisters go, you could try utilizing moleskin in between the areas where the blisters are occuring and the brace to see if you can reduce pressure to that region. You should be able to find moleskin at your local pharmacy. I hope this helps and thank you for using CyberPT."
