Our user asked: "Hello, I have been diagnosed with pes anserine bursitis. I am doing hamstring stretches to improve flexibility. Can you recommend some strengthing exercises that I can do at home?"

The main muscles involved with the pes anserine are the hamstrings (semitendinosus), hip adductors (gracilis) and sartorius (flexes knee/flexes hip/and rotates femur laterally). Physical therapists will often issue stretches for these involved muscles to help a patient achieve improved flexibility and hopefully take some pressure off the pes anserine bursa. Strengthening exercises may be prescribed for these involved muscles as well if there are strength deficits.
