Our user asked: "i broke my leg basically its in a metal brace and cannot bend but i was wondering if there are any exercises i can do to get myself toned up still i was on a diet and workin out before my accident happend and im tryin to keep to it as much as i can do you know of any abdominal exercises i can do?"

Ask a PT Response: "Depending on where you broke your leg, you can still perform some exercises with the involved leg. It is not unusual to have physical therapists prescribe exercsies such as ankle pumps, quad sets, glut sets, straight leg raises and hip abduction. I'd recommend you check with your MD or PT first before beginning a home exercise program or to get a more detailed exercise program tailored specifically for you. As far as working out other regions of your body, I would not normally see a problem with that unless you have other issues going on or it is not recommended by your MD. Isometric abdominal contractions and/or pelvic tilts on your back could be possible ab exercises to perform. However, again I'd get the ok from your MD first to make sure it would be appropriate. Good luck with your recovery."
