Our user asked: "Hey! I have a moderate upper trap injury from lifting wights the wrong way. the injury happened two years ago and i never did physical theropy for it. ive started on my own, what should i do? i cant afford a doctor! thank so much you ugys are great!!!!"

Ask a PT Response: "That is great that you identified the cause of your injury, so that you can prevent further injury. My concern is that you are still having problems despite the onset of injury occuring two years ago. If you truly do have an upper trapezius dysfucntion, you can find more information on what a PT does to treat an upper trapezius injury from our article on upper trapezius strain: http://www.cyberpt.com/cptcondtrt10trapRhm.asp - http://www.cyberpt.com/cptcondtrt10trapRhm.asp (sample videos can be viewed by clicking on link). A patient with an upper trapezius dysfucntion often displays increase tension or trigger points (tender points) at the affected muscle. STM/myofascial release or massage to the affected area along with stretching is often performed to help decrease the tension and release the myofascial dysfunction. Should a patient's condition worsen, further medical attention is warranted as there may be other underlying issues. Good luck with your road to recovery and thanks for using CyberPT."
