Our user asked: "I had ACL surgery using an allograft yesterday. From all my research I did prior to my surgery it sounded like the general consensus was to start ROM exercises within the first couple of days after surgery. My doctor told me the only thing I could do was weight bearing as tolerated until I came back to see him in 11 days. There was no other damage in my knee so I'm a little confused why I cannot start ROM for at least 12 days. When do you normal start ROM exercises?"

Ask a PT Response: "You are correct, patients normally are able to start ROM as long as it is not forceful. Your surgeon knows best as far as what was done in the surgery and I always have my patients follow the patient's instruction. Perhaps you can ask your surgeon why upon your next visit"
