While doing very heavy maximum weight workout with "overhead layback triangle pulldown" developed pain at medial aspect of elbow. Have had this for 1 1/2 weeks now. I believe I cause the injury by using my arms to pull more then thinking scapula retraction.

-No visible swelling nor ecchymosis

-no numbness nor tingling distal to injury, circulation to fingers is WNL

-I have full ROM at elbow joint

There is soreness and localized pain on palpation inside of elbow. Pain extends approx 4" above and below elbow. Pain is most severe right at medial epicondyle and diminishes the further away from that spot you palpate.

Movements that illicit pain now are in line dumbbell fly's, seated row with cables (it hurts to fully extend my arms so I only extend 3/4 of the way to avoid pain, when doing std layback triangle pull down hurts at point of full extension

I am able to still do my weight workouts and Rowing machine workout with caution and at times use tennis elbow band with gel insert. It helps but in some exercises I have to remove it because it is too restrictive.

I have been icing 4 x /day and using electro stim intermittently. Both seem to help. Cannot use NSAIDs D/T ulcer hx. Also doing deep tissue massage with fingers and Ice. But much too painful to rub directly over medial epicondyle.

What about the use of Heat? How and when in conjunction to cold application do I use it?

BTW I have injured this area in the past also

Thanks,

MAC-RN
