Our user asked: "I have self diagnosed myself with anterior ankle impingement. It is painful when my ankle is in "dorsiflexion." This is the result of 3 years of surfing. It's not severe, but I have a chronic soreness and really feel it when surfing. I'm hoping there are some excercises I can do to relieve/reduce the pain and slow the deterioration. Thanks"
Ask a PT Response: "I was wondering how you came to the conclusion that you have impingement at the anterior ankle? Impingement could be the result of multiple factors ie. poor ankle arthrokinematics, instability, weakness, posture, mechanics, etc. Without physically examining you, it would be difficult for me to determine what may be contributing to your pain. If you are able to, it may be a good idea to see a PT."
