Our user asked: "I had a concern about my knee, I was told I have Patellar subluxation which is true, and I am currently strengthening my legs according to what I was told to by my pysical thereapist, however I experience a pain on the outside of my knee when I walk or run, its isn't sharp but more of an "inflamed" feeling or irritating feeling. And when I curl my leg to a little past 90 degrees and on I feel with my hands a "shifting" or "pop-like" sensation on the side of my knee. I am not an expert on knee problems, and after asking my doctor and phsical therapist they just focused on the patellar subluxation and not my lateral knee issue... If you have an idea of what it might be or what I should do then your help is much appreciated. I thank you for your time and hope to hear from you!"
Ask a PT Response: "From what you describe, it sounds like you may have something going on with your Iliotibialband (ITB). http://www.cyberpt.com/cptcondtrt8illbndsyn.asp Talk to your PT and have him or her assess your ITB to see if this is the case. Stretching and strengthening are usually recommended for this condition." |
