Our user asked: "I had a slight case of clubbed feet when born. Recently i had my right peroneus brevis repaired with great results. My question is - i have strain in the same tendon on my left side - should i wear an ASO or just try and strengthen as much as I can. I am a martial artist, personal trainer and runner. Please advise."
Ask a PT Response: "It would be very difficult to give you a recommendation without physically examining you. With any strain, I would recommend to my patients to back off from activities which may exacerbate the condition and to allow for time to heal. I would also issue exercises to maintain or increase range of motion and exercises to maintain or increase strength. Somatosensory and proprioceptive exercises along with stability exercises are initiated as well. As far as an ASO, the brace could be utilized with initial return to sport for increase stability."
