Our user asked: "a friend was in a motorcycle accident not too long ago. he broke his leg and ankle and needed a rod, pins and screws. he is healing nicely and walking around okay but has recently started to develop pain again and feels extreme cold from the rod in his leg, do you have any suggestions on warming the leg to help ease the pain from the cold?"

Ask a PT Response: "Your friend should consult with his surgeon again to make sure the hardware in his lower leg and ankle are intact and haven't shifted. The surgeon can also rule out circulation deficits which may be contributing to the cold sensation at his lower leg/ankle."
