Our user asked: "what is the best way to get rid of it, how long does it take and how do you prevent it from coming back?"
Ask a PT Response: "Please refer to our page on plantar fasciitis for further information: http://www.cyberpt.com/cptcondtrt5plantf.asp
Rest, stretching, icing and soft tissue mobilization are most often recommended by physical therapists to their patients to treat this condition. Each person will respond to treatment differently and may require additional treatment options. Therefore, from my experience, recovery time can range anywhere from 1-3 months. As far as prevention goes: strethcing, modifying your activities which requires weight bearing and proper footwear are key. If condition does not improve, the utilization of a night splint/boot or corticosteriod injections may be recommended by the PT or physician. Thanks for using CyberPT."
