Our user asked: "My Husband had split posterior tibialis tendon transfer with heel cord lengthening and first metatarsal osteotomy to correct foot position when walking. Dr. has referred him to PT 3x week but he won't go. I was wondering if PT would normally be willing to bring it down to 1x week and allow me to accompany him into PT. If so, I might be able to talk him into it. If not, any suggestions on exercises to do at home?"

Ask a PT Response: "The physical therapist/facility should be willing to work with your husband as far as frequency goes. We often have to deal with this issue for patients who have limited insurance and are unable to attend the frequency recommended. As far as exercises, it probably would be a good idea to have your husband attend therapy at least once so that he can get the appropriate exercises which are tailored specifically for him given the type of surgery performed and his current status. I wish the best of luck for your husband."
