However, we are having a difficult time achieving this. A big problem is cancellations and no shows. Anyone have any ideas or suggestions that they have used to help increase billable productivty?

MilwPT

7 Posts

Posted - 10/11/2006 : 21:06:49 Show Profile Reply with Quote
We keep a "Call list" at the secretary's desk. This is a list of patients that were not seen 2-3 times that week, due to a busy therapist's schedule. It is the secretary's responsibility to call people on the list until she/he can find one to fill the vacancy. If there is no one to fill the spot, the therapist has a "project" he/she can work on. There is ALWAYS something that needs to be done in the clinic - marketing to physicians, organizing files, JCAHO updates, documentation, cleaning, etc. Also, make the therapists accountable for their schedule, and remind them to engage their patients and educate the patients on why it is important to come to all PT sessions.

We are currently using MS Outlook via our intranet but it doesn't afford us the ability to search for available slots without searching through each individual therapist's schedule. We tried utilizing software geared towards scheduling for MD appointments but that was a nightmare.

zebrapt

1 Posts

Posted - 06/06/2006 : 23:01:59 Show Profile Reply with Quote
MattPT
Our clinic is currently looking into scheduling software developed by SpectraSoft. It is highly compatiable and will be able to be incorporated into our MIS system. I'll let you know what I think once we begin implementing it.
Z
Go to Top of Page
