What kind of special training/schooling is involved with becoming a pediatric physical therapist? Is there any demand for this type of training? Thanks.

The market for therapists who have specializations or experience in peds is quite large. In fact my organization is currently looking for a therapist who has peds experience. To become a pediatric physical therapist you must take the same route in becoming a physical therapist. You must graduate with your Masters or Doctorate in PT. However, you can gain more experience in peds by choosing your clinicals with an emphasis in peds. This will give you additional experience besides classroom knowledge. After that, you can continue to gain more skills through the participation of continuing education courses and mentoring. Nevertheless, if you end up finding that peds is not right for you, than you can still pursue other areas in physical therapy.
