He had a hip pinning in that leg 5 years ago and does not complain of any pain but noticed marked weakness after down hill skiing recently."<DIV>&nbsp;</DIV><DIV><strong>Ask a PT Response:</strong> "It might be a good idea for your husband to work with a PT to determine what may be contributing to his "thigh giving out". </DIV><DIV>Otherwise this webiste has some good samples of exercises which I give my patients for hips and legs: <a href="http://edin&#102;ormatics.com/health_fitness/sample_exercises_ch4a.htm" target="_blank">http://edinformatics.com/health_fitness/sample_exercises_ch4a.htm</A></DIV><DIV>As a progression I would have my patients utilize some light ankle weights to start off with for the standing exericses while holding onto the chair. 1/4 Wall slides are good for strengthening quads (thigh muscles) as well.
