Author: Ask a PT
Subject: 1187
Posted: Feb 01 2013 at 4:16pm

Our user asked: "I am Currently 5 months post Op from an ACL tear back in August. I had the surgery on September 20th using a cadaver graft. Its now January leaving me at 5 months today. So my question is What agility drills can i do speciifically (how many times, per day etc, and am i allowed to start doing Cage Hitting at baseball practice."

Ask a PT Response: "Time is not the only prerequsite as far as progressing to agility and higher level activities. Without physically examining your strength, ROM, posture, mechanics, integrity of graft, etc., I can't advise to you what you are able to be doing. If your knee is not ready for these higher level activities despite you being 5 months out of surgery, than it would be ill advised to be doing them. I would recommend you contact your PT or surgeon that you were workign with for better insight. Sorry I couldn't have been of more help."
